FSI Low Pressure Fuel Sensor Failures (mounted on HFPF)

The most common fuel pressure sensor to fail on the FSI engine is the low pressure fuel sensor.  This part is mounted on the side of the high pressure fuel pump.  When this part fails you may experience intermittent cold start stalling issues, as well as fuel cuts under acceleration, which would likely become more frequent over time.  VW also had a technical bulletin which you may be able to find by looking to the bulletin number RVUTB 20 08 03.  While many 2.0T FSI cars have the most updated part in their vehicle you should consider checking this part if you have the symptoms or faults mentioned.

– P129F (Low-Pressure Fuel Pressure Regulation: Pressure too High)

– P310B (Low Pressure Fuel regulation: Fuel Pressure outside Specification).

    I have a new VII GTI with Perfom Pckg. 3,000 miles on it so far. Will the clutch “break in” some more and allow some more slippage? It’s very tight and at times feels like an on/off switch. It has eased a bit since I first got. It’s shifts smooth but clutch is very tight.

      You should not expect to clutch pedal to feel much different than it does now.

    Hi Paul l. Hope you well. I would like to thank you for your dedication in ensuring that we understand and keep our cars rolling. Your assistance has continues to be a reference whenever i encounter problems with my car and guess what it works like a charm.

    Small concern i have with my gti v 2006 pby is this whenever i disconnect a battery completely i expect a radio to lose a code when battery is reconnected. I have never lost it. Is this normal? What keeps the radio powered on. Your guidance will be highly appreciated and wish you well.

      Tim,

      You have to leave battery unhooked for like 30 minutes or touch the positive to the negative (while both unhooked from battery of course) to quick drain remaining charge. Hold them together for like 30 secs and you will reset everything. Just make sure you do a throttle body alignment after hooking battery back up. Press gas to floor and turn on car without starting. Hold gad pedal for 10 full seconds, you will hear a ding. Release pedal and power off car. Wait 2 full minutes while the alignment occurs. You may hear things moving in the engine compartment, this is normal and is the throttle realigning. After waiting 2 full minutes. 3-5 to be safe. Start the car and drive it normally.

    Have you seen any of part # 06E906051K fail? I’m experiencing cuts on hot days and after long drives… I’m leaning more towards the lpfp since I have the latest thrust sensor.
