A VAG COM (VCDS) Alternative has Arrived

July 28, 2016
|

For many years VAG COM has been a dominant force in the world of VW /Audi scan tools.  VAG COM was the only option if you wanted to have accurate fault code info, perform long coding and have access to basic settings and adaptation channels on all VW and Audi control modules.  As the exclusive US distributor we are so happy to bring you the OBDeleven which is an Android based app that seems to be the first viable alternative to purchasing a VAGCOM cable.  There are still a few features not available that could be deal breakers if you are into heavy diagnostic, but I feel like this tool is a great option for most.   This tool can be either a supplement or replacement depending on which VCDS features are most important to you.

OBDeleven a VAG COM Alternative for VW|Audi Techs

Are you tired of waiting for someone to finish using the scan tool just to check faults on a car?  We know that being a flat rate tech means that time is money, and every minute you wait costs you more. Having a bluetooth wireless scan tool that you can hook up to your android device can make you life simple and easy.  Instead of a bulky laptop you can use your phone and a small OBDeleven dongle.  This makes things much more portable for you around the shop.  We have heard from many dealer techs, that they have a limited number of scan tools that this can be an easy way to scan faults and start to diagnose a car.  We also have heard from guys who buy cars at auctions and don’t want to worry about breaking a laptop or losing their expensive VAG-COM cable.

OBDeleven a VAG COM Alternative for VW|Audi Enthusiasts

OBDeleven is even great for enthusiast looking to perform what formerly were called VAG COM tweaks.  The great part about the OBDeleven is that it has created a more affordable option for VW | Audi guys and gals to perform coding on their own.  No longer to you have to find a local shop with a VCDS cable.  With the “Apps” feature on your OBDeleven you don’t even need to be a coding expert since these are a 1 touch solution to perform specific types of coding.

If you’re looking for a coding or fault scanning on your vehicle and the $349 VAG COM cable is not the route you want to go, then the OBDeleven which is $59.99 should be a great option for you!

About Credits with the OBDeleven

Credits are NOT required for perform coding on vehicles.  If you are familiar with VAGCOM coding the OBDeleven coding would be performed in the same manner and has no cost associated with it.  The credits are ONLY used to use the “Apps” in the OBDeleven.  This is an option to perform 1 touch coding on your VW or Audi that doesn’t require specific knowledge on how to perform coding.  These are intended to be turn key which is why they have a cost associated with them.

Cost of Credits on OBDeleven

10 credits price is 1.49€ +VAT.

100 credits price is 11.99€ +VAT.

500 credits price is 47.99€ +VAT.

In this Video we Talk about how OBDeleven compares to VAG COM

Will this work on all VW models/generations? Specifically, I currently have a MK6 Golf R. Will I be able to code the LED tails?

Will this work w/ Audi A4 B7? I know no logging with this as for right now, but will this work on tests, such as LPFP, HPFP, cam adjuster, O2 sensors, etc.?

Yes you can access all the data on that car no problem

How much do credits cost to use the app? Is the coding easy to figure out or is there good forum support for adjusting code? How likely am I to paperweight my cars lol?

    • Paul Barrett
      |

Very Unlikely to paperwieght the vehicle. Anything you see out there referring to VAGCOM coding would apply here, so theres lots of forum info on that. Here are the costs of credits.
      10 credits price is 1.49€ +VAT.

      100 credits price is 11.99€ +VAT.

Does this work with iphones? I only see androids being advertised with it

    • Paul Barrett
      |

only android at this time. Apple has bluetooth hardware restrictions that prevent development.

Would OBDeleven provide realtime DSG transmission temps for DIY DSG oil servicing?

Will this work on my first gen CC?

I read the amounts that credits cost but how many credits are used per application? For example, if I want to adjust 5 different codes, how many credits would be used?
    Thank you

    • Paul Barrett

varies by what you want to do. many of them are 10 credits.

I have push to start with my gen 3 gli and I miss being able to lock the doors with the car sunning. Is that an option with this new tool to do if I have my keys still in my pocket?

Any word on if the live data will show boost?

Thank you Paul for offering this as a VAG COM alternative! It has worked out great on my 16 MK7 GTI. Following VAG COM instructions I’ve found in forums, I was able to use the OBDeleven to perform the same steps without using their built in credit apps: Window open or close via keyfob, alarm horn enable, disable the Soundaktor, Comfort Turn Signals to 5 blinks, XDS Adaptation Electronic Differential Lock (PP), Disable DRL, Reverse Passenger mirror dip, Xenon Range (LP), ESC Off, and Change Dashboard display to Carbon Fiber look background.

I used an app credit to perform a one-click UrbanJoke V2 taillight mod. It looked like a PITA to code in manually and the OBDeleven did it in ~5 seconds. I love the way the taillights work after this mod. Totally worth the app credit.

Will this be able to clear codes and do an airbag reset?

Can I unlock Navigation System with this so it can be updated on Audi B8?

  14. Brian
    |

Wait, you have to purchase credits to be able to use this device?

Doesn’t seem like much of an alternative if you’re start from zero (I’ve got Apple, so either way I’d have to purchase a compatible tablet/laptop).

Does this have the capability to adapt a throttle body on the B5 drive by cable models? Vag com has been the only successful method thus far.

    Thanks

I am very interested the purchase of the OBDEleven, although, my car, Skoda Octavia Mk2 TDi 2005 has an issue which I would need VCDS for.
It has the yellow steer light in the dash, I would like to know, would this device be able to trace the issue, fault codes, and eventual erase or recode what would be needed if needed?
Hope you don’t mind me asking, because I wouldn’t like to find out it can’t after the purchase.

My OBDEleven arrived 2 days ago and I love this thing! The first thing I did was code my LED tail lights, I turned off the soundaktor, I changed the license plate lights to LED and no longer have an error message. I dimmed the DRL rather than turn it off when the turn signal is on. etc. etc… This is a “must have” tool for me. Thanks!!

I am installing a trailer hitch on my 2012 Tiguan and need to reprogram the ECM for the hitch. Would I be able to do that with the OBDeleven? THanks

Paul as they do updates is the device able to be updated
If so will/ does it need t o be connected to a computer or will it down load from Device

    • Paul Barrett
      |

You would update the app just like any other app on an android device.

Any chance of Windows 10 tablet/laptop support in the future? Can I use this to change my service interval from 9K to 5K?
