The IS38 turbocharger is the factory-equipped unit found on MQB 2.0T performance models such as the Golf R, Audi S3, and TTS. Unlike older VW and Audi turbos that had integrated exhaust manifolds, the IS38 bolts directly to the cylinder head. This is because the EA888 Gen 3 engines (1.8T and 2.0T) feature an integrated manifold within the head itself. This design improves thermal efficiency and reduces turbo size, making the IS38 more compact than previous generations.
This is an OEM replacement turbo designed specifically for vehicles originally equipped with the IS38. It includes the integrated electronic wastegate actuator and matches factory specifications for fit and performance.
