Intake valves are often replaced due to being bent during a catastrophic event. This is most commonly due to the engine jumping timing on your 2.0t. Generally during these events the engine will only bend intake valves. In some rare circumstances the exhaust valves may bend, which is why they should be check to ensure they are properly sealing.
