This follower is for the mechanical high pressure fuel pump. This part has been known to fail prematurely and wear through, this most often happens when the seal becomes worn, allowing fuel into the cylinder head washing down the friction area. Once the fuel has washed down the follower very little lubrication exists which can result in the rapid failure of this part.
Please replace this seal for the cam follower every time the pump is removed WHT-005-184
