On FWD MQB VW and Audi models, the front wheel bearing is the same on both the left and right side of the vehicle. This part is a bolt in unit that requires triple squares to remove the front wheel bearing mounting bolts, and a 12 point socket for the axle bolt.
On AWD MQB VW and Audi models, the front and rear wheel bearings are the same on both the left and right side of the vehicle.
Generally if a wheel bearing is going bad on your vehicle, this would result in a whine noise that changes with the speed of the vehicle. You can also usually tell which side is bad by making a turn in either direction to see if the noise changes. A bad wheel bearing would often get quiet if you removed the weight of the vehicle off that wheel.
