To inspect, you’ll need to remove the lower engine shield and trace the radiator hoses to locate the water pump and thermostat housing. The pump is belt-driven by the balance shaft and includes a thermostat housing that is prone to leaks. Additionally, the system features an electromechanical thermostat to regulate coolant flow, which is generally reliable but may occasionally fail.

When the water pump or thermostat housing fails, it’s best practice to replace both components at the same time to ensure long-term reliability.
