- A must have for any VW/Audi driver Review by veedubtek
I was skeptical when introduced to this guy. $60? *Another* VCDS alternative? C'mon. I've had em all, tried em all, and most rot in my toolbox now. This thing though, this is now my go-to. With anything, there are a few drawbacks, but nothing that's gonna prevent me from recommending it to anyone, at any level.
A little background, I'm VW master certified and have been working on VW's for over 20 years. I've used virtually every scan tool ever designed for these cars back to the VAS1551.
-Size. Pocket. Glovebox, Console. Wear it as a necklace. Fashion an earring out of it. It's so small and light, you can fit this thing anywhere. Ultra portable.
-Power. If VCDS can do it, OBDEleven can do it also. Scan faults, clear faults, read live data, adaptations, basic settings, coding, it can do it all.
-Price. NOTHING can do what this thing does for anywhere near the price. You're getting dealer-level diagnostic ability for pennies on the dollar.
-I wish there was a place to attach a lanyard or something. I'm afraid of losing it. You can get alert when you exit the program reminding you to grab it, but I still see me forgetting this thing somewhere. At the price, whatever, I'll replace it if I have to.
-It's not quite as user friendly for someone inexperienced. Take coding for instance, VCDS has an impressive long coding helper. You don't have that here. You have the ability to do the coding, but you're gonna have to do some googling to figure out what bit you're gonna change.
-I tried to come up with 3 negatives, and I can't. Does that count as a negative?
I can't say enough good about this. I plan on buying 4 more to put one in my kids cars and keep one at the house. I don't know how they do it all for $60, but I'd advise you to buy one now, before this thing takes off.
