The Left Tie rod is the component that connects your steering rack to the left front wheel of your VW or Audi. The Left Tie Rod end is located at the end of the left side tie rod and bolts to the steering knuck of the vehicle. This part has a joint on it that may become worn or damaged over time. You should inspect your tie rod ends for cracked boots or play in the joint.
The easiest way to inspect for play is to jack the vehicle up, and apply a rocking motion back and forth to your tire in the directions it would turn.
