MAP Sensor is short for Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor. This part can be found mounted directly on the intake manifold. Its purpose is to measure the pressure and vacuum inside the intake manifold. This is one of many sensors used to ensure the engine is functioning properly. G71 is the sensor number allocated by the vehicles diagnostic system and any codes referring to G71 would be in some way related to this sensor. Please note this does not mean the every G71 fault would require you to replace this part.
